Browned butter Earl Grey cookies are a delicious twist on classic butter cookies. Here's how you can make them:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Earl Grey tea leaves
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking the butter, stirring occasionally, until it turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the butter cool slightly.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and Earl Grey tea leaves.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, beat together the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until they are well combined.
- Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until the dough forms.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten the balls slightly with your fingers.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown around the edges.
