Chicken Cheese Fingers
Chicken cheese fingers are a popular appetizer or snack made with chicken and cheese, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried until crispy and golden.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Take a chicken strip and flatten it slightly. Place a small amount of the cheese mixture in the center of the strip and roll it up, ensuring the cheese is enclosed within the chicken. Repeat with the remaining chicken strips and cheese.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls or plates. Place the flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in the third. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the flour and breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
- Take a chicken cheese roll and coat it in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and then coat it in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs. Place the coated chicken cheese finger on a plate or tray. Repeat with the remaining chicken cheese fingers.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat. The oil should be around 350°F (175°C) for frying.
- Carefully place the coated chicken cheese fingers into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the chicken cheese fingers from the oil using a slotted spoon or tongs and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken cheese fingers.
- Serve the chicken cheese fingers hot as an appetizer or snack. They can be enjoyed on their own or served with dipping sauces like ketchup, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing.
Chicken cheese fingers are a crowd-pleasing dish that combines the savory flavors of chicken and cheese with a crispy coating. They are perfect for parties, game nights, or as a tasty treat any time of the day. Enjoy!
