Crockpot Green Bean Casserole Recipe

Green Bean Casserole is a classic American side dish typically made with green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and crispy fried onions. It is often served during holiday meals such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. The green beans are usually cooked until tender, then mixed with the cream of mushroom soup and topped with the fried onions. The casserole is then baked until heated through and the fried onions are crispy. Some variations of the recipe may also include other ingredients such as cheese, bacon, or breadcrumbs.

A recipe for Crockpot Green Bean Casserole:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz each) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 can (6 oz) crispy fried onions

Directions:

  1. In a crockpot, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Stir until well combined.
  3. Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for 4-6 hours or on high heat for 2-3 hours.
  4. Before serving, sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the top of the green bean mixture.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!

Note: You can also use fresh or frozen green beans instead of canned, but they will need to be blanched before adding them to the crockpot. To blanch fresh or frozen green beans, bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the green beans, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Drain the green beans and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and then add to the crockpot.
