Halloween Bat Cookies

Here there is one more recipe of homemade cookies for Halloween with the image of a bat. Vanilla and cinnamon give the pastry a special flavour to be incredibly delicious. Shortbread cookies are tender and crispy, so not only children but also adults will like it for sure. If you want you can decorate them with melted black chocolate or multicoloured protein icing. This way I got 16 cookies about 4,5 cm in diameter.

Ingredients

  • Butter
    90 g
  • Flour
    120 g
  • Sugar
    60 g
  • Lemon juice
    1 tsp
  • Vanillin
    1 pinch
  • Salt
    1 pinch
  • Cocoa powder
    2 tbsp
  • Ground cinnamon
    0,25 tsp

Steps

  • 1. In a bowl mix all free-flowing ingredients for the dough: sieved wheat flour, caster sugar, vanillin and salt. Whisk everything until smooth.
  • 2. Then add lemon juice into dry mixture.
  • 3. Chop cold butter into small pieces and add into the mixture.
  • 4. Mix all ingredients with stand mixer to get small crumbs. Then continue kneading the dough with your hands to make it soft and smooth. Dont knead for long, 5 minutes will be enough. Put the dough into the plastic bag or wrap it with a cling film and place it into the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • 5. Roll cooled dough into the crust 3-4 mm thick on the working surface strewed with flour. Cut rounds out of the dough with plunger cutter or a glass.
  • 6. Cut a stencil of a bat out of the hard paper. Place the stencil on a round and strew it with the mixture of cocoa and cinnamon. Remove the stencil carefully.
  • 7. Form all сookies this way. Place them on the baking sheet covered with baking paper at short intervals.
  • 8. Bake the сookies at the medium stage of the oven pre-heated at 400 °F for about 8 minutes.
  • 9. Cool down our сookies and serve to some tea or juice. Bon appetit!
