Gingerbread Christmas Trees

Today we will cook smart gingerbread christmas trees with multicoloured icing. Such pastry will be a perfect addition to a main present for New Year holidays and will make happy not only children but also adults. Ask your children to help you and they will cut different shapes out of the dough with pleasure and decorate biscuits with sweet icing.

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour
    310 g
  • Corn starch
    40 g
  • Dough loosener
    1 tsp
  • Ground cinnamon
    0,5 tsp
  • Butter
    110 g
  • Egg
    2 pcs
  • Honey
    90 g
  • Ginger
    0,5 tsp
  • Powdered sugar
    300 g
  • Food grade dye
    1 pcs



Steps

  • 1. Combine sieved wheat flour, sugar powder, corn starch and ground spices in a bowl.
  • 2. Whisk the mixture until smooth. Add grated cold butter.
  • 3. Mash bake mix with butter to get small crumbles. Beat two eggs and pour some clear honey into the dough.
  • 4. Mix and knead a smooth dough. Wrap it with a cling film and place it into the fridge for half an hour.
  • 5. Roll the cooled dough out between two sheets of baking paper to the crust of 4 mm thick.
  • 6. Cut biscuits with special plunger cutter or curve.
  • 7. Put biscuits on the baking dish covered with baking paper. Place baking dish into the oven pre-heated at 400 °F and bake them until golden brown for 10 minutes. Then cool them down completely until room temperature and start to cook icing. In a bowl mix egg white and sieved sugar powder. You can add a few drops of lemon juice.
  • 8. Then add some food grade dye into done icing. Put it into the icing bag.
  • 9. Decorate biscuits and leave them to stiffen. Also, you can decorate them with some coconut flakes , sprinkles, chocolate or nuts.
