Mushroom Turnovers

Let’s cook some tasty turnovers made of ready-made Danish pastry dough. You can use any other stuffing instead of fried mushrooms. It can be boiled chicken fillet, ham, cheese, curd with some greens, fish or minced meat. The recipe is very simple and fast to cook. You only need to make stuffing, form turnovers and wait until they get brown in the oven. So, let’s start!

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry
    500 g
  • Mushroom
    400 g
  • Onion
    1 pcs
  • Egg
    1 pcs
  • Sunflower oil
    2 tbsp
  • Salt
    - to taste
  • Black pepper
    0.25 tsp
  • Provencal herbs
    0.25 tsp



Steps

  • 1. Take ready-made Danish pastry dough out of the fridge in advance to make it unfrozen and elastic. Wash some fresh mushrooms, peel and dice them.
  • 2. Pour some oil into the saucepan. Put diced mushrooms in it. Stirring, fry them over the medium heat until all water evaporates.
  • 3. Peel a bulb of onion. Dice it finely.
  • 4. Add diced onion to the mushrooms. Salt the stuffing and season it with some spices.
  • 5. Fry all ingredients until done. Then remove from the heat and cool mushroom stuffing down till room temperature.

    Roll danish pastry dough out to 3 mm thick on the cooking surface sprinkled with some flour.
  • 6. Cut the dough into rectangles. Cut on the one side of the dough to get a net. Put stuffing onto another side of the dough.
  • 7. Fold the dough over and press to seal additionally prick them with a fork. Model the edges of turnovers with a fancy knife.

    Put the turnovers onto a baking sheet covered with some baking paper. Brush turnovers with beaten egg.
  • 8. Put them into pre-heated oven to 400 °F and bake them for about 25 minutes until done. Serve it hot.
