Cheese Chicken Croissants

Many people consider croissants to be sweet pastry. But today we will change this stereotype and cook croissants with chicken fillet and hard cheese. The pastry is very delicious, flavoured and nutritious. I advice to cook a few portions at a time because such croissants disappear immediately from the table.

Steps

  • 1. Take done unleavened dough out of the fridge in advance to make it unfreeze and get elastic.
  • 2. While this, let’s cook stuffing. Peel and dice onion.
  • 3. Fry cut onion in the oil until golden brown. Cool it down until room temperature.
  • 4. Grate any hard cheese with a big holes grater.

  • 6. In a bowl combine all ingredients for stuffing: hard cheese, cut fillet, fried onion and finely chopped greens.
  • 7. Salt the stuffing and add black ground pepper and herbes de Provence for taste.
  • 8. Mix stuffing to make all ingredients combine.
  • 9. On the floured working surface roll the dough 3-4 mm thick. Cut the dough into rectangles. Make cuts on them as shown in the picture.
  • 10. Put 1-2 tablespoons of stuffing on one side of every rectangle .
  • 11. Roll them the way all stuffing appears inside them.
  • 12. Form croissants sticking edges thoroughly.
  • 13. Put pastry on the baking sheet covered with baking paper. Rub croissants with beaten egg with a cooking brush.
  • 14. Put croissants into pre-heated oven to 1800. Cook them until golden brown for about 20 minutes. Replace done pastry from the baking tin to a dish, cool them down a bit and serve them warm.
  • 15. Bon appetit!
