Drunk pear

In winter it is better to have a good time with warm desserts that warm up your body and spirit. And what can be better when you may modify the taste of dessert on the fly according to your preferences. I guess, you got it.

Ingredients

  • Pear
    3 pcs
  • Lemon
    1 pcs
  • Orange
    1 pcs
  • Sugar
    100 g
  • Vanilla sugar
    30 g
  • Clove
    3-4 pcs
  • Cranberry
    200 g
  • Cinnamon
    2-3 pcs
  • Red wine
    500 ml

Steps

  • 1. I will show you a rich version of this dessert but if you want you can compress the number of ingredients into a mini list of 2-3 ones and still it will be delicious, believe me. So, what you need is wine. How else we can make a pear drunk? Red one fits great (up to your taste). Then cranberry, lemon and orange – they will give the needed slightly sour taste and aroma. A contrast for them are sugar and vanilla sugar. And we finish with spices of cinnamon and cloves. A list of spices can be continued infinitely - anise, peppercorns, vanilla, dried zest and everything else that comes to mind.
  • 2. Be braver preparing suitable components, nothing bad will happen. And if you have only a pear – it is a good idea to cook it in a sugar syrup. In this case, asceticism does not mean a bad result, that is what makes this dessert so good.
  • 3. Everything is prepared pretty simple and fast – put all ingredients into a casserole . It is advisable to choose a size in which exactly the right amount of pears will fit.
  • 4. Collect sugar, cinnamon, cloves, lemon and orange zest in a casserole. Add there an orange juice as well (if you like sour – add a lemon juice). Then cranberry and wine. If you do not have much wine - dilute with water, approximately 2 to 1 (wine / water).
  • 5. Mix it well and put on the plate. It is probably may be similar with mulled wine or it is exactly the mulled wine, so we also have a good hot winter drink as a bonus to a dessert.
  • 6. While syrup is heating, prepare a punch. It is easy – cut off the bottom, so that a pear will stay fixed on the plate. If you plan to serve it other way – maybe, then you do not need to do this. It is better to take more firmly pears.
  • 7. The most important is to get rid of pear pits – you may use both special instruments and a thin knife. You should cut it off below from the whole pear. You will feel yourself a professional making the same short work of the second or third pear.
  • 8. Finally – peel.
  • 9. While you were busy with pears, the syrup is heated well and ready to accept pears. Put them carefully in a syrup and reduce fire to medium – we do need it to boil. Cook pears for 30-40 minutes, it depends on a sort and how soft you want the dessert to be.
  • 10. Check the preparation with a method of a knife immersion in the body of a pear. If it gets into easily – then the pear is prepared (soft).
  • 11. While cooking, pears are well painted in a juicy wine color. If you like brighter – add more cranberry and wine as they are nature food dyes here.
  • 12. Put prepared pears on plates and serve with an ice cream, ricotta and other cream-cheese-cottage cheese variations. The pears’ taste is very soft, rich with spices and wine. Nobody will stay indifferent.
  • 13. Alternative way of serving drunk pear is to cut the pear for plates.
