Orange Pie with Honey
Recently it has turned out that there are a couple of oranges left in the fridge and I just could not decide what to do with them. Then I started looking for ideas on the web and found this interesting orange pie with almond flour. If almond flour cannot be found, and you are lazy to bother with its manufacture – substitute it for wheat flour or whole grains flour, it will be tasty anyway.
Ingredients
-
Orange2 pcs
-
Honey125 ml
-
Egg5 pcs
-
Baking powder1 tsp
-
Almond flour250 g
Steps
-
1. Here is the longest step of cooking. Put two oranges in the saucepan, pour the water in so that it covers oranges a little bit. Boil, then lower the fire so oranges are boiling for two more hours. Turn them over from time to time and add some water if needed.
-
2. All this time there will be a pleasant citrus aroma in the kitchen – not bad for the beginning of the Saturday day, for example.
-
3. When the oranges are slightly cooled, cut them largely along with the skin. The only things to remove are the bones and tails, we need everything else. Oranges will become more monophonic and soft.
-
4. Put the finished pieces into a blender and grind it well. Here you can leave the middle pieces so that the texture is felt in the pie or you can completely turn it into puree.
-
5. Put puree in a deep bowl; add honey, baking powder and all the eggs.
-
6. Stir well until homogeneous, add flour and mix again. The dough will turn out to be pretty liquid - do not panic.
-
7. If you have a metallic mold, spread the bottom with parchment, and dust walls with flour. This is not necessary with a silicone mold. Pour the dough in and bake in the oven at 190 degrees for 40-60 minutes. As always, everything depends on the oven, check the readiness with a wooden skewer. If during the cooking the crust starts to appear before the pie is ready – cover the mold with foil (shiny side up).
-
8. Leave ready cake to cool down in the mold and then take it out carefully.
-
9. As for decorations – just grease the top with honey and sprinkle with ground pistachios and coconut shavings. By the way, the pie is quite unsweetened, with a good orange flavor and taste. If you keep it for the night in the fridge – it does reveal all the aromatic and taste properties.
-
10. It can be said that dessert is almost for losers – there is no flour, no sugar, a lot of fruit puree and nut flour. The texture is amazing – very delicate, soft, but not liquid at all. You will definitely like it!
-
11. An important comment: the pie turns out to be not sweet, namely it is such easy orange aroma, but if you like sweeter – add 3 spoons of sugar or honey.
