Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour
    440 g
  • Milk
    220 ml
  • Active dry yeast
    11 g
  • Egg
    1 pcs
  • Sugar
    20 g
  • Sour cream
    50 g
  • Onion
    200 g
  • Salt
    1 tsp
  • Refined oil
    60 g

Steps

  • 1. Begin kneading dough with roasted onions. Finely chop the heads and put into the pan with refined oil. Fry until the onions are reddened and the characteristic smell of fried onions appears.
  • 2. Heat the milk a little and pour it into deep dish. Pour in granulated sugar and yeast. Stir and cover the cup with something, such as a plate or lid.
  • 3. Approximately in 10 minutes the yeast will «revive» in a warm sweetened environment, creating a foam mass on the surface.
  • 4. You simply mix this yeast mass with a regular spoon and add sour cream, egg, salt. Mix well again. And begin to thicken the dough by gradually adding flour, which you must sift in advance.
  • 5. Having entered the most part of flour, add the fried onions to dough together with the oil remains. Onions by this time should cool down almost completely. Stir so that fried onions evenly distributed over the dough.
  • 6. Then, adding the rest of the flour, knead the soft onion dough. Round it up and put it in a clean cup. Tighten with a film, wrap with a towel and leave in a warm place for about an hour.
  • 7. Sprinkle the table with flour and spread fluffed onion dough. Accurately knead it.
  • 8. Then form a circle, which will interfere on a sheet of baking parchment.
  • 9. Sprinkle the surface with a thin layer of flour and cover with a plastic cup large enough so that the dough does not touch its walls.
  • 10. After about 20 minutes remove the cup. The dough is rested and regained its splendor, so the rounder has noticeably grown in size. Use a sharp knife to make several cuts along the top.
  • 11. Then carefully transfer the parchment with the blank to a baking sheet and bake the onion loom at 190 degrees for about half an hour. Take ready toasted bread out of the hot inside of the oven and immediately cover with a light towel. This will make the bread crust softer.
  • 12. Slice cooled down loom and serve on the table. Soft, fragrant and indescribably delicious onion bread will be appreciated to all members of the family.
