Beer-Battered Chicken Strips

It is rather easy to overdry chicken fillet and meat turns out tough and tasteless. However the fillet fried in beer batter, always turns out juicy and gentle. Any beer will be suitable for the recipe, the kind doesn’t matter. The main thing, it has to be very cold. In this case, batter turns out crispy and fragrant. The special citrus note to it gives lemon zest. Add to ready chicken fillet favorite sauce, spicy ketchup or mustard. As a side dish the fresh or baked vegetables, cereals or noodles will approach.

  • Chicken fillet
    3 pcs
  • Egg
    1 pcs
  • Light beer
    200 ml
  • Lemon
    1 pcs
  • Whole wheat flour
    3 tbsp
  • Seasoning for chicken
    1 tsp
  • Vegetable oil
    100 ml
  • Salt
    - to taste
  • Black pepper
    - to taste


  • 1. Wash chicken fillet and dry from excess moisture with paper tissues. Let's clean out meat from fat and foams. Cut each chicken fillet lengthwise, and then cut meat on portion pieces.
  • 2. Lay out chicken meat on the chopping board laid by food wrap. Salt and season fillet with spices from both sides. Cover meat with food wrap and beat it by means of culinary hammer from two sides so that chicken turns out juicy and soft.
  • 3. Let's make batter. In a deep bowl, combine light beer and one egg. Mix with the help of a wire whisk.
  • 4. Then add to batter a little salt, black ground pepper and seasoning for chicken. Let’s mix again.
  • 5. Add the sifted wheat flour to the mixture. Mix batter, on consistence it has to remind dense sour cream.
  • 6. To add to a dish a piquant citrus note we will add a zest of one lemon to batter and mix.
  • 7. Dip into batter pieces of the beaten-off chicken fillet so that they completely become covered by it.
  • 8. Lay out pieces of chicken in batter on the pre-heated frying pan with vegetable oil.
  • 9. Let's fry chicken fillet in batter on middle fire till a golden brown from both sides.
  • 10. Lay out ready-made pieces of chicken on the plate laid by paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • 11. Let’s serve chicken fillet in beer batter hot with fresh vegetables salad, mashed potatoes or polenta.
