Baked Mackerel with Mustard Sauce

Let’s cook for dinner an incredibly delicious mackerel baked in mustard sauce on a pillow from onions. The fish prepared in such way is very juicy and gentle. Thanks to spicy seasonings and lemon slices, mackerel has a piquant taste and a unique flavor. The perfect side dish for baked fish will be mashed potatoes, boiled broccoli or fresh vegetable salad.

Steps

  • 1. Wash the fish and cut off the head, tail and fins. Remove the insides and the black skins and once again wash the fish. Cut the mackerel into portion pieces.
  • 2. Shift the fish into deep bowl for marinating.
  • 3. Salt the mackerel pieces, season with black ground pepper and a mixture of seasonings for fish.
  • 4. For marinade let’s combine mayonnaise and two kinds of mustard and mix until homogeneous consistence.

  • 5. Add mustard marinade to the fish. Thoroughly mix the ingredients so that the mackerel pieces are completely covered with marinade. Cover the dish with food wrap and send fish to the fridge for 1-2 hours for marinating.
  • 6. Peel two onions and cut into semi-rings of medium thickness. Cut a quarter of the lemon into thin semi-rings.
  • 7. Grease the heat-resistant form for baking with vegetable oil. Shift the ground onions on the bottom of the form.
  • 8. Add thin slices of lemon and bay leaves for aroma.

  • 9. Next, put pieces of mackerel in mustard marinade in the form.
  • 10. Cover the form with a fish with a lid or food foil and send mackerel to a pre-heated oven up to 180 degrees. Bake the fish for 25 minutes. Then remove the lid or foil and continue to bake the fish for another 5-7 minutes, turning on the "Grill" mode.
  • 11. Serve the ready mackerel baked in mustard sauce in hot with favorite side dish or fresh vegetables.
