Cheese Bacon Dip Christmas Tree

Today we’ll cook a snack pie from puff pastry with a filling from bacon, cheese and ketchup that tastes like pizza. It doesn’t seem unusual and even festive. But let’s make a pie in the form of a Christmas tree and then the usual pastry turns into a New Year or Christmas dish.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry
    500 g
  • Ketchup
    1 tbsp
  • Provencel herbs
    0.5 tsp
  • Smoked bacon
    100 g
  • Cheese
    50 g
  • Egg
    1 pcs
  • Sesame seeds
    1 tsp

Steps

  • 1. Prepare the ingredients: if the puff pastry is frozen, defreeze it in advance. Instead of bacon, you can use brisket meat, ham or any smoked sausage that you previously need to cut very thin. Use spicy or sweet ketchup - choose the one you usually add to dishes. Cover a baking sheet with baking paper, and turn on an oven to pre-heat up to 205-210 ℃
  • 2. Spread the unfreezed puff pastry and make two preparations for the Christmas tree. To make the preparations identical, first make the marking with the back of the knife using the ruler. Do not throw out the dough scraps.
  • 3. Shift one preparation on the baking sheet and apply ketchup on it, and then season with Provan herbs.
  • 4. Next, put the bacon in one layer.
  • 5. Add grated cheese generously.
  • 6. Cover everything with the second preparation. Now cut the pie so that there are "branches" about 1 cm wide each. Do not cut the central part of the pie ("body" of the Christmas tree). Since the cutting process takes place directly on the baking sheet, it is better to use culinary scissors to avoid damaging of the baking paper under the future tree. Twist each "branch," starting from the bottom and moving up.
  • 7. Grease with whipped egg the received Christmas tree and put sesame seeds on it. Make croissants or stars from the dough scraps, using the remaining bacon, ketchup and cheese as filling. Grease the received products also with egg and pour with sesame seeds. Put them on the baking sheet next to the Christmas tree and send to the pre-heated oven to bake for 15-20 minutes or until ready. The ready pastry is reddened and crispy.
  • 8. Let the pie cool slightly on the baking sheet, and then shift it on a serving board or dish and serve. Bon Appetite!
