If you want to feed your family well and delicious, then prepare a sausage and onion pie with a base from shortcrust pastry. The combination of crispy shortcrust base and juicy filling makes the pastries incredibly delicious and fragrant. Grated hard cheese forms an appetite golden crust on the pie during baking, and it is impossible to resist this pie. Cooking this pie is easy enough, follow the step-by-step recipe and you'll get it all done.


Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour
    350 g
  • Butter

  • Egg

  • Sour cream

  • Baking soda

  • Vinegar

  • Cooked sausage

  • Cheese

  • Vegetable oil
    50 ml

Steps

  • 1. First make dough for the pie. In deep bowl let’s connect 1 chicken egg, 1 tablespoon of sour cream and salt. Mix thoroughly with the wire whisk until homogeneity.
  • 2. Melt the butter in a microwave oven or on a cooking surface and cool to room temperature. Add melted butter to sour cream-egg mixture and mix.
  • 3. Then add soda mixed with vinegar to the dough.
  • 4. In several steps let’s add sifted wheat flour into the dough, each time mixing the ingredients until homogeneous consistence.
  • 5. As a result, dough should turn out soft and elastic, and doesn’t stick to hands. The amount of flour to the dough may vary depending on its gluten. Put the ready dough in a baggy and send it to the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • 6. While the pie dough is cooling, let’s make a filling. Peel onions and cut into small cubes.
  • 7. Put the ground vegetables in a deep frying pan with pre-heated vegetable oil. Periodically stirring, let’s fry onions on medium heat until light golden brown.
  • 8. Сlean the boiled sausage from the shell and cut into small cubes.
  • 9. Add the cut sausage to the browned onion. Stir and continue to fry the ingredients together on low fire for another 5 minutes.
  • 10. Then add finely cut dill and parsley to the filling.
  • 11. Place the cooled dough in a heat-resistant form for baking. Level the dough in form, forming high sides of the base. Make perforation with a fork so that during baking the pie does not deform. Send the base of the pie to the oven pre-heated to 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • 12. When the shortcrust base reddens a little bit, get it out of the oven. Put the filling of onions and sausage on the base.
  • 13. In a separate dish connect 200 g of sour cream and 2 chicken eggs. Add salt and black ground pepper to taste. Mix the mixture with a wire whisk until homogeneity.
  • 14. Gently pour the pie filling with sour cream-egg mixture.
  • 15. Grate hard cheese on a large grater.
  • 16. Distribute grated cheese evenly throughout the perimeter of the pie.
  • 17. Let's return the pie to the oven pre-heated to 180 degrees. Continue to bake the pie at the medium level for another 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
