Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato cut into bars and rolled in fragrant seasonings baked in the oven can be an excellent alternative to the popular "fries" potatoes. The hardest thing about cooking this dish is finding a sweet potato that is still a rare guest on the shelves of even the biggest hypermarkets.

Ingredients

  • Sweet potato
    5 pcs
  • Salt
    - to taste
  • Dried garlic
    1 tsp
  • Paprika
    1 tsp
  • Black pepper
    0.5 tsp
  • Potato starch
    3 tbsp
  • Thyme
    3 pcs
  • Vegetable oil
    3 tbsp

Steps

  • 1. Let's prepare the ingredients. The amount of seasonings and salt can vary depending on your taste. The amount of sweet potato depends on the size of the tubers. Large tubers are used in this recipe. Peel the sweet potatoes and then cut into bars. Next, so that the finished dish is crispy, put the sliced sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes at least.
  • 2. During this time let’s prepare a large baking sheet, line it with a bakery parchment, and turn on the oven to pre-heat up to 200-205 ° C. Cast away the sweet potatoes on a sieve and then put on paper towels to dry the bars. We don’t need any excess moisture here, because we need to bake the sweet potatoes rather than stew.
  • 3. Transfer the prepared sweet potatoes to a deep bowl and add vegetable oil, a mixture of seasonings, salt, starch and thyme leaves. With our hands, let’s mix everything so that all the bars are covered with oil and a mixture of seasonings and starch.
  • 4. Put the bars in one layer on the prepared baking sheet and send them to the pre-heated oven first for 15-20 minutes, then turn the sweet potatoes over and return them to the oven again for another 15-20 minutes. The total baking time depends on the specific oven. Make sure the seasonings don't start to burn otherwise the covering can have a bitter taste.
  • 5. Serve the ready dish immediately because the cooled sweet potatoes will lose its crispiness. Baked sweet potato is good as itself or with some sauce/dip. As well it can be served as a side dish to meat.

    Bon Appetite!
