Buckwheat with Meat

Dishes in clay pots have a special charm and, in my opinion, even tastier than cooked on a stove. Buckwheat in a pot with meat in an oven is a great idea for a family lunch or dinner. At the same time, we will have both meat and side dishes ready. During baking, the cereal is saturated with a unique aroma and acquires a delicious taste. The meat is very juicy and tender, and the vegetables successfully supplement the finished Russian kasha. The ideal addition will be homemade pickles, for example, tomatoes with garlic and greenery or zucchini pickles.

Stewed Buckwheat and Meat

  • 1. Wash pork and dry from excess moisture with paper towels. Clean the meat from skins and fat, cut the flesh into pieces of medium size. Put pork pieces in a frying pan with heated olive oil. Stir periodically and fry the meat to a light golden tint.
  • 2. Put the fried pork into baking pots, I used 4 serving ones.
  • 3. Peel onions and cut into quarter rings. Wash carrots, peel them and cut them into straws. Clean garlic cloves, cut into thin slices. Put the crushed vegetables in a frying pan with heated olive oil.
  • 4. Stir and brown vegetables on medium heat for 5-7 minutes until golden. Transfer browned vegetables into baking pots.
  • 5. Before cooking buckwheat let’s wash it thoroughly and then add to the baking pots to the rest of the ingredients.
  • 6. In each baking pot let’s add a piece of butter, 1 bay leaf, 1 pea of black allspice, salt and spices to taste so that roasted buckwheat in the pot with meat becomes fragrant.
  • 7. Fill the ingredients with hot water so that the liquid is 1 cm higher than the buckwheat level. Cover the baking pot with a lid or food foil, put them on a baking sheet and send them to a heated oven up to 180 degrees.
  • 8. After 35-40 minutes, the buckwheat in the pot will be ready. Now you know how to cook buckwheat with meat in a pot. Decorate the dish with fresh greenery and serve immediately after cooking.
  • 9. Bon Appetite!
