Egg onion pie will be an excellent alternative to yeast dough piroshky. The dough for this recipe is prepared very quickly and does not require a long proofing. It is only necessary to combine all the ingredients to get a thick dough, which looks like fat sour cream. If desired, other greenery, such as parsley, dill, sautéed sorrel or spinach, may be added to the filling.

  • 1. First let’s make dough for the pie. Melt butter (100g) in a microwave oven or on a stove and cool to room temperature. Add sugar to butter, mix.
  • 2. Add mayonnaise to the received mixture, mix thoroughly.
  • 3. Add 2 chicken eggs to the dough. Mix the ingredients with a wire whisk until homogeneous consistency.
  • 4. Pour the kefir of room temperature into the dough and stir.
  • 5. So that onion pies become fluffy, add some baking powder and salt to the dough.
  • 6. In several steps let’s add into the dough sifted wheat flour, each time mixing the dough until homogeneous consistency.
  • 7. The result should be a thick and homogeneous dough without lumps.
  • 8. While the finished dough is resting, let’s deal with the filling. Wash spring onion and cut into thin rings. Put the crushed green onions in a frying pan with heated butter. Stir periodically and sauté green onions on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  • 9. Boil hard the remaining two eggs, chill, peel from the shell and cut into small cubes. Add boiled eggs to sautéed green onions. Add salt and black ground pepper to taste. Mix the filling.
  • 10. Now that all the components are ready, it remains to form an egg onion pie, the recipe of which I recommend you to repeat. Put parchment on the bottom of a heat-resistant baking form, pour half of the pie dough.
  • 11. Then distribute the ready filling of spring onions and eggs evenly.
  • 12. Over the filling pour out the remaining dough. Decorate the pie with flax seeds.
  • 13. Send the egg onion pie to the oven heated to 180 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Let's check the readiness of the cake with a wooden skewer. It should come out of the pie absolutely dry, without traces of dough.
  • 14. The pie with green onions and egg is ready. Chill it a little in form, cut it into serving pieces and serve it to the table as an independent dish.
