How to Make Ukrainian Braised Pork

  • 1. Wash the pork and dry from excess moisture with paper towels. Clean the meat from fat and skins, cut into pieces of medium size. Put pork pieces in a frying pan with pre-heated olive oil. Add salt and spices to taste. Stir periodically and fry the meat until golden.
  • 2. Peel onions and cut into cubes. Wash bell pepper, remove the seed box and cut into straws. Add the crushed vegetables to the meat, mix and continue to fry the ingredients together for 2-3 minutes.
  • 3. After this time, let’s add fresh tomatoes cut into small cubes to the frying pan. Mix, continue to fry the ingredients together for several more minutes.
  • 4. Then add tomato sauce, wheat flour and finely chopped garlic cloves to the meat. Mix.
  • 5. Fill the ingredients with hot water or broth so that the liquid completely covers the meat with vegetables. Cover the frying pan with a lid and stew the pork on a low heat for 20 minutes. During this time, Ukrainian braised pork with gravy will thicken a little.
  • 6. At the end of cooking, add finely chopped dill and parsley.
  • 7. As soon as pork becomes soft, the stewed pork with gravy is ready. Serve it with your favorite side dish. Ideal for boiled potatoes, spaghetti, rice or buckwheat.
  • 8. Bon Appetite!
