Recipe to make Angel Food Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. Sift Dry Ingredients: Sift together the cake flour and powdered sugar in a bowl. Repeat the process twice to ensure they are well combined and aerated.
  3. Whip Egg Whites: In a large, clean, and dry mixing bowl, whip the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until foamy. Add the cream of tartar, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and salt. Increase the speed to high and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold in Dry Ingredients: Gently fold the sifted flour and powdered sugar mixture into the whipped egg whites. Be careful not to deflate the egg whites. Do this in two or three additions, folding until just combined.
  5. Fill Cupcake Liners: Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Allow the angel food cupcakes to cool completely in the cupcake tin. Once cooled, remove them from the tin.
  8. Serve: Serve the angel food cupcakes as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream.

These cupcakes are light, airy, and perfect for those who enjoy a less sweet dessert. Feel free to customize them by adding fresh berries on top or a light glaze. Enjoy your angel food cupcakes!
