Homemade Mojito

Mojito – probably the most famous Cuban cocktail and one of the most popular cocktails all over the world. The combination of mint, lime juice and rum make this cocktail fresh and perfect for hot summer days. If you want to learn how to make Mojito at home, follow this easy recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2oz (60ml) White rum
  • 1 oz (30ml) Fresh lime juice
  • 1/2-1 oz (15-30ml) Simple syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • Ice
  • 60ml Soda water/sparkling water
  • Simple syrup recipe (good for several servings):
  • 1/2 cup (100g) Sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water

Directions:

1. Make the syrup: in a small saucepan combine sugar and water. Heat until sugar dissolves, turn the heat off and allow to cool completely.
2. Make the mojito: Put mint leaves in your palm and clap to release the oils. Place the mint in a high ball glass. Pour in white rum, simple syrup, lime juice and mix.
3. Add ice and finish with soda water.
4. Mix and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
