Parmesan Chive Biscuits
Parmesan chive biscuits are a savory and flavorful twist on traditional biscuits. They are perfect as a side dish for soups, stews, or as a delightful addition to any meal.
Parmesan chive biscuits
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped chives, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk. Gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be somewhat shaggy.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a rectangle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
- Using a biscuit cutter or a round glass, cut out biscuits from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Optional: Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven for added flavor and shine.
- Allow the Parmesan chive biscuits to cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy these biscuits warm with butter or alongside your favorite meals. The combination of Parmesan and chives adds a delicious savory flavor that makes these biscuits a delightful treat for any occasion.
