Cocktail Margarita
Margarita is the Spanish word for daisy, so it is likely that the Margarita evovled from the Daisy family of cocktails. The original Daisy of the 1870s consisted of spirit, citrus, orange cordial, gum syrup, and seltzer served over ice. A Tequila Daisy, consisting of tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and soda water, was only a short stride away from a Margarita.
