Chocolate Pudding

Chocolate Pudding

This homemade chocolate pudding is creamy, rich, and utterly satisfying. Enjoy its delightful taste and smooth texture!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 2 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.
  2. Add milk: Gradually pour in the whole milk, whisking continuously to ensure there are no lumps.
  3. Cook on medium heat: Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the pan to prevent sticking.
  4. Thicken the mixture: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, and then reduce the heat. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, continuing to stir until it thickens.
  5. Add chocolate and butter: Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped chocolate and butter. Stir until they melt and the mixture becomes smooth and well combined.
  6. Incorporate vanilla extract: Once the chocolate and butter are completely melted and integrated, stir in the vanilla extract. This adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  7. Chill and serve: Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover the surface directly with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours until the pudding is thoroughly chilled and set.
  8. Serve: Serve the chocolate pudding chilled, garnished with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or fresh fruit, if desired.
