Chicken Kali Mirch Tikka without Oven
Chicken Kali Mirch Tikka is a flavorful Indian dish that traditionally requires an oven for baking. However, you can still achieve delicious results without an oven by using a stovetop grill or a non-stick pan.
Ingredients:
- 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt (hung yogurt or Greek yogurt works best)
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil (for marination)
- Oil or ghee for grilling
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, black pepper, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Mix well to form a marinade.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them thoroughly. Ensure that each piece is well coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for better flavor infusion.
- Heat a non-stick pan or stovetop grill over medium-high heat and drizzle some oil or ghee onto the surface.
- Once the pan or grill is hot, place the marinated chicken pieces onto it. Make sure to shake off any excess marinade before placing them on the pan to avoid excessive dripping.
- Cook the chicken on each side for about 5-6 minutes or until it is fully cooked and nicely browned. Keep flipping the pieces occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- You can test the doneness of the chicken by cutting into a piece to check if it is cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the Chicken Kali Mirch Tikka from the pan or grill and transfer it to a serving plate.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with mint chutney, sliced onions, and lemon wedges.
Enjoy the flavorful and aromatic Chicken Kali Mirch Tikka cooked without an oven. It pairs well with naan, roti, or rice for a delicious meal.
