Kitchen Sink Cookies

Kitchen sink cookies are a fun and versatile type of cookie where you can throw in a variety of ingredients that you have on hand. They typically contain a mix of chocolate chips, nuts, oats, and other add-ins. Here's a basic recipe for kitchen sink cookies:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (or a mix of chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (such as cranberries, raisins, or chopped apricots)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, nuts, shredded coconut, and dried fruit. You can adjust the amounts of add-ins to your preference.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Kitchen sink cookies are best enjoyed when they are slightly warm and gooey, but they will also keep well in an airtight container for a few days. Feel free to get creative with the add-ins and use whatever you have on hand to make your own unique batch of kitchen sink cookies. Enjoy!
