Mississippi Pot Roast

Mississippi Pot Roast is a popular and flavorful dish that combines a beef roast with tangy and savory flavors. Here's a recipe to guide you in making Mississippi Pot Roast:

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 pounds chuck roast
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) au jus gravy mix
  • 8-10 pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini juice (from the jar)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Season the chuck roast generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chuck roast and brown it on all sides to develop a rich crust. This step helps seal in the flavors and adds depth to the pot roast.
  3. Once the chuck roast is browned, transfer it to a slow cooker or leave it in the Dutch oven if it's oven-safe.
  4. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chuck roast.
  5. Place the pepperoncini peppers on top of the roast, distributing them evenly.
  6. Pour the pepperoncini juice over the roast, and then place the unsalted butter on top.
  7. If using a slow cooker, cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high heat for 4-6 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork. If using a Dutch oven, cover it with a lid and cook in a preheated oven at 325°F (165°C) for about 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  8. Once the pot roast is cooked, shred the meat using two forks. Mix the shredded meat with the flavorful juices in the slow cooker or Dutch oven.
  9. Serve the Mississippi Pot Roast with the rich and tangy juices spooned over the meat. It pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.

The Mississippi Pot Roast is known for its tender and flavorful meat, thanks to the combination of the ranch seasoning, au jus gravy mix, and tangy pepperoncini peppers. Enjoy this savory and comforting dish!
