Sugar coated fritters
Sugar coated fritters are a sweet and delicious treat made with a simple batter that is deep-fried until crispy, then coated in a sweet sugar mixture. They are typically served as a dessert or a snack and are popular in many cultures around the world.
To make sugar coated fritters, you will need:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large, deep saucepan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the warm fritters in the sugar mixture until they are completely coated.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Note: Be careful when working with hot oil, and always use caution when frying.
