Parmesan Chive Biscuits
Parmesan chive biscuits are a savory and flavorful variation of traditional biscuits. They are perfect as a side dish or as a delicious snack. Here's a recipe to make Parmesan chive biscuits:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
- 3/4 cup buttermilk (you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 3/4 cup milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped chives, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the dough starts to come together. Be careful not to overmix.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it forms a cohesive ball.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch. Use a round biscuit cutter or a drinking glass to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
- Gather the remaining dough scraps, roll them out again, and cut out more biscuits until all the dough is used.
- Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
