Punjabi Style Mutton Kheema is a flavorful and spicy minced mutton dish from the Punjabi cuisine of India. It's a delicious preparation where minced mutton is cooked with aromatic spices, onions, tomatoes, and herbs, resulting in a rich and hearty dish. Here's a recipe to make Punjabi Style Mutton Kheema:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams minced mutton (kheema)
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan or kadhai over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes to allow the spices to blend.
  6. Add the minced mutton (kheema) to the pan and mix it well with the onion and spice mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mutton is browned and cooked through.
  7. Once the mutton is cooked, sprinkle garam masala over it and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and remove from heat.
  9. Serve the Punjabi Style Mutton Kheema hot with roti, naan, or rice. It pairs well with a side of raita (yogurt-based side dish) or pickles.
