Fried Prawns

Fried prawns are a delicious and crispy seafood dish that can be served as an appetizer or as part of a main course. Here's a recipe to make fried prawns:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450 grams) large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a shallow bowl or plate, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a seasoned flour mixture.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well-combined.
- Dip each prawn into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is coated evenly.
- Roll the egg-coated prawns in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere the flour mixture to the prawns. Make sure the prawns are fully coated with the flour mixture.
- Place the coated prawns on a plate or tray and let them rest for a few minutes to allow the coating to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot but not smoking.
- Carefully place the coated prawns into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding the pan. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy, usually taking about 2-3 minutes per side. Flip them once halfway through to ensure even cooking.
- Once the prawns are cooked and crispy, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon or tongs and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining prawns.
- Serve the fried prawns hot with lemon wedges for squeezing over the prawns and adding a tangy flavor.
- Garnish the fried prawns with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.
Fried prawns are best enjoyed immediately while they are still hot and crispy. They can be served as an appetizer with a dipping sauce or as part of a main course with a side of salad or rice.
