Nutty Custard Cake is a delicious and indulgent dessert that combines the flavors of a rich custard and a nutty cake. Here is a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, almonds, or pecans)

For the custard:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

For the cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk and mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in the chopped nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the custard:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until it starts to steam.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture.
  4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Remove the custard from heat and let it cool to room temperature.

To assemble:

  1. Cut the cooled cake into small squares or slices and place them in a serving dish.
  2. Pour the cooled custard over the cake and spread it evenly.
  3. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until the custard sets.
  4. Serve the Nutty Custard Cake chilled, garnished with chopped nuts if desired.
