Coffee Chiffon Cake is a light and fluffy dessert with a delicious coffee flavor. Here's a recipe to make it at home:
Ingredients:
- 6 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, vegetable oil, coffee, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg yolk mixture, whisking until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the sugar to the egg whites, beating until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch (25cm) chiffon cake pan.
- Bake the cake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and invert the pan onto a cooling rack, allowing the cake to cool upside down in the pan for at least 1 hour.
- Once the cake has cooled, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen it and carefully remove the cake from the pan.
- Slice and serve the coffee chiffon cake with whipped cream or fresh berries, if desired.
