The Spicy Korean Chicken Parmesan is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of spicy Korean chicken with the classic Italian dish, Chicken Parmesan. Here's a simple recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons Korean chili paste (gochujang)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Place the flour in a shallow dish, the beaten eggs in another shallow dish, and the panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and coat it in the panko mixture.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the Korean chili paste, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the breaded chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.
- Pour the Korean sauce over the chicken in the skillet, turning the chicken to coat it in the sauce.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish the chicken with chopped parsley, if desired.
