Amazing Browned Butter Earl Grey Cookies

Browned butter Earl Grey cookies are a delicious twist on classic butter cookies. Here's how you can make them:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Earl Grey tea leaves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking the butter, stirring occasionally, until it turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the butter cool slightly.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and Earl Grey tea leaves.
  4. In a separate large mixing bowl, beat together the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until they are well combined.
  5. Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until the dough forms.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten the balls slightly with your fingers.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown around the edges.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
