Bread in a pan, also known as pan bread, is a delicious and easy-to-make homemade bread that does not require a bread machine or an oven. Here's a recipe for making bread in a pan:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the bowl and mix with a wooden spoon until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Grease a large loaf pan with some oil or butter.
  5. Place the dough into the pan and press it down to fill the corners and evenly distribute the dough.
  6. Cover the pan with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  7. Preheat a stovetop skillet or griddle to medium-low heat.
  8. Once the dough has risen, place the pan on the skillet or griddle.
  9. Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the bottom of the bread is golden brown.
  10. Using oven mitts, carefully flip the pan over and continue cooking the bread for another 10-15 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown.
  11. Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your warm and fresh bread in a pan, perfect for sandwiches, toasting, or just as a delicious side to any meal!
