Delicious Birria Ramen

Delicious Birria Ramen

Birria Ramen is a fusion dish that combines the rich and flavorful Mexican birria with the comforting and popular Japanese ramen. It brings together the tender and juicy meat of birria with the aromatic broth and noodles of ramen. Here's a general guide on how to make Birria Ramen:

Ingredients:

For the Birria:

  • 1.5 to 2 pounds beef (such as beef chuck or brisket)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Ramen:

  • Ramen noodles (enough for serving)
  • Birria meat (cooked and shredded)
  • Birria broth (from the cooking process)
  • Toppings of your choice (such as sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, lime wedges, diced onions, radishes, and avocado)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Birria: In a large pot or slow cooker, combine the beef, beef broth, water, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, dried oregano, ground cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for several hours until the beef becomes tender and easily shreds. You can also cook it in a slow cooker on low heat for 6-8 hours.
  2. Shred the Birria meat: Once the beef is tender, remove it from the cooking liquid and shred it using two forks. Set aside the shredded meat.
  3. Strain the Birria broth: Strain the cooking liquid through a fine-mesh strainer to separate the flavorful birria broth from the solids. Discard the solids and set the broth aside.
  4. Cook the Ramen noodles: Cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  5. Assemble the Birria Ramen: In individual serving bowls, add a portion of cooked ramen noodles. Top the noodles with a generous amount of shredded birria meat. Pour the desired amount of birria broth over the noodles and meat.
  6. Add toppings: Customize your Birria Ramen by adding toppings of your choice. Popular options include sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, lime wedges, diced onions, radishes, and avocado.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Serve the Birria Ramen while it's hot. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the bowl and mix the ingredients together to incorporate the flavors. Enjoy the comforting fusion of birria and ramen!

Feel free to experiment with different toppings or add additional ingredients to your Birria Ramen, such as soft-boiled eggs or bean sprouts. The combination of the tender birria meat, flavorful broth, and noodles creates a unique and delicious fusion dish.
