Chocolate lava cake is a decadent dessert that features a rich, chocolatey cake with a gooey, melted center. Here is a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 2 eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar and fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Grease and flour 4-6 ramekins and set aside.
- In a small bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and butter together in the microwave or using a double boiler. Stir until smooth and set aside.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and stir until well combined.
- Sift in the all-purpose flour and salt and stir until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared ramekins.
- Bake the chocolate lava cakes for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly jiggly.
- Carefully remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes.
- Using a small knife, loosen the edges of the cakes from the ramekins and invert each cake onto a serving plate.
- Dust the top of each cake with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh berries if desired.
