Unusually Delicious Mochi Grilled Cheese

This recipe will teach you how to make a unique and delicious grilled cheese sandwich using mochi instead of bread.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of mochi
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Optional: sliced ham or turkey, sliced tomato, or other sandwich fillings of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place the mochi slices in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until they are lightly browned and slightly puffed up.
  3. Remove the mochi slices from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of two of the mochi slices.
  5. If desired, add any additional fillings to the sandwiches.
  6. Place the remaining mochi slices on top of the fillings to create two sandwiches.
  7. Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat.
  8. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add the sandwiches to the skillet.
  9. Cook the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the cheese is melted and the mochi is slightly crispy and golden brown.
  10. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and serve hot.
