Veggie Patties Kabab
Veggie Patties Kabab, also known as Vegetable Kebabs, are a vegetarian version of the popular kababs traditionally made with meat. They are made by combining various vegetables, spices, and binders to form a patty or kebab shape, which is then cooked by grilling, baking, or pan-frying.
The main ingredients in Veggie Patties Kabab include a variety of vegetables such as carrots, peas, corn, beans, and sometimes potatoes. These vegetables are finely chopped or grated and mixed with other ingredients like bread crumbs, onions, garlic, ginger, and a blend of spices such as garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder.
The mixture is then shaped into patties or kebab shapes, which are typically flattened discs or elongated cylinders. The patties can be cooked on a grill, in the oven, or in a pan with a small amount of oil until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Veggie Patties Kabab can be served as a standalone appetizer or snack, or they can be used in sandwiches, wraps, or as a filling in burger buns. They are a versatile and flavorful vegetarian option that can be enjoyed by both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
A simple and delicious recipe for you:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of mixed vegetables (such as carrots, peas, corn, beans), finely chopped
- 1 medium-sized potato, boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon garam masala (Indian spice blend)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander (cilantro)
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped mixed vegetables, mashed potato, bread crumbs, onions, garlic, ginger, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, and fresh coriander. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small patties or kababs. You can make them round or oval-shaped according to your preference. Make sure the patties are compact and hold their shape well.
- Heat the cooking oil in a non-stick skillet or pan over medium heat.
- Place the veggie patties in the pan and cook them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. You can cook them in batches if needed, depending on the size of your pan.
- Once the patties are cooked, transfer them to a serving platter lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve the veggie patty kababs hot with your favorite chutney, sauce, or alongside a salad. They make a great filling for sandwiches or wraps too.
Enjoy your homemade Veggie Patty Kababs!
