Quick Bread Pakoda

Quick Bread Pakoda is a popular Indian snack made with bread slices, chickpea flour batter, and spices. This delicious snack is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making it the perfect appetizer or tea-time snack.

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread
  • 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain (carom) seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water (or as needed)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Cut the bread slices into two triangles or rectangles.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, ajwain seeds, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add water gradually to the chickpea flour mixture and make a smooth and thick batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the bread slices well.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Dip each bread slice into the batter and coat well.
  6. Carefully drop the coated bread slices into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  7. Remove the bread pakodas from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  8. Quick Bread Pakodas are ready to serve. Enjoy them hot with mint chutney or ketchup.
