Cinnamon swirl pancakes are a delicious twist on traditional pancakes, featuring a sweet and aromatic cinnamon filling. Here's a basic recipe to make cinnamon swirl pancakes:
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup brown sugar
For the cinnamon swirl:
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon and brown sugar for the cinnamon swirl.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
- Pour ¼ cup of the pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
- Quickly sprinkle about a teaspoon of the cinnamon swirl mixture onto each pancake.
- Top each pancake with an additional 2 tablespoons of batter to cover the cinnamon swirl.
- Cook the pancakes until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter and cinnamon swirl mixture.
- Serve the cinnamon swirl pancakes warm with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh berries.
