Hamburger Casserole
Hamburger casserole is a delicious and comforting dish that combines ground beef, vegetables, pasta or rice, and cheese. It's a hearty one-pot meal that is easy to prepare and perfect for feeding a crowd. Here's a basic recipe for hamburger casserole:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as carrots, peas, and corn)
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked pasta or rice
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet or frying pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat until it's no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the mixed vegetables, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta or rice according to the package instructions until it's al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a greased casserole dish. Stir in the cooked pasta or rice until everything is well combined.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
