Butter Chicken Burger

Butter Chicken Burger

Ingredients:

For the Butter Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

For the Burger:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Butter, for toasting the buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onions

Instructions:

  1. Start by marinating the chicken. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, garam masala, turmeric, paprika, ground cumin, ground coriander, and salt. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for more flavor.
  2. Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken breasts until they are fully cooked and slightly charred on the outside, usually about 6-8 minutes per side. Once cooked, set aside.
  3. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
  4. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for another minute, stirring continuously.
  5. Add the garam masala, turmeric, paprika, ground cumin, and ground coriander to the pan. Stir well to combine the spices with the onion, garlic, and ginger mixture.
  6. Pour in the tomato puree and cook for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and slowly add the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the sauce to simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed.
  8. Shred the cooked chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and add them to the sauce. Stir well to coat the chicken with the butter chicken sauce. Simmer for a few more minutes to ensure the chicken is heated through.
  9. While the chicken is simmering, lightly toast the burger buns in a separate pan with a little butter.
  10. Assemble the burgers by placing a generous amount of the butter chicken mixture on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and sliced onions. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  11. Place the top half of the bun on the assembled ingredients to complete the burger.

Serve your delicious Butter Chicken Burgers with some extra sauce on the side for dipping, and enjoy!
