Salted Caramel Apple Galette

Ingredients list:

Dough for the Galette

  • 160g plain flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1tbsp sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 110g unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
  • 1tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional, use more water if not)
  • 60ml cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2tbsp demerara sugar, for sprinkling on top

Salted Caramel Sauce

  • 100g sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste as it cools
  • 1tbsp butter
  • 120ml double cream, plus an extra drizzle for serving

Apple Pie Filling

  • 700g granny smith apples (approx 6) – Cored, peeled and sliced
  • 1tbsp lemon juice
  • Zest of half a lemon (optional)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 70g sugar
  • 1tbsp butter
