Coffee Mousse

  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream, chilled
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)


  1. Dissolve the instant coffee granules in hot water and let it cool to room temperature.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the chilled heavy cream using an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the whipped cream while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in the cooled coffee mixture and vanilla extract into the whipped cream until well combined. Be careful not to overmix and deflate the mixture.
  5. Spoon the coffee mousse into serving glasses or bowls. You can use individual dessert glasses or one large bowl for a family-style presentation.
  6. Place the glasses or bowls in the refrigerator and let the coffee mousse chill for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  7. Before serving, you can garnish the coffee mousse with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder for an extra touch of flavor and decoration.
