Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork
Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork is a comforting and nourishing dish that combines the rich flavors of miso, tender pork, and vibrant baby bok choy.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 4 tablespoons miso paste (white or red, whichever you prefer)
- 8 ounces pork tenderloin, thinly sliced
- 2 baby bok choy, leaves separated and trimmed
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Optional toppings: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, chili oil
Instructions:
- In a large pot, bring the water and broth to a simmer over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste with a little bit of the simmering broth until the paste is dissolved. This will help prevent lumps in the soup.
- Add the dissolved miso paste to the pot and stir to combine.
- Add the thinly sliced pork to the pot and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and tender.
- Add the baby bok choy leaves, sliced green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Simmer the soup for another 3-4 minutes, or until the baby bok choy is wilted and tender.
- Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more miso paste, soy sauce, or sesame oil to your preference.
- Remove the pot from heat and let the soup sit for a minute or two before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Ladle the miso soup into bowls and garnish with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a drizzle of chili oil if desired.
- Serve the Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork hot and enjoy its comforting flavors.
This miso soup is a satisfying and wholesome dish that can be enjoyed as a light meal or as a starter to a larger Japanese-inspired meal. The combination of miso, tender pork, and nutritious baby bok choy creates a harmonious balance of flavors and textures.
