Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork

Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork is a comforting and nourishing dish that combines the rich flavors of miso, tender pork, and vibrant baby bok choy.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 4 tablespoons miso paste (white or red, whichever you prefer)
  • 8 ounces pork tenderloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 baby bok choy, leaves separated and trimmed
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, chili oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, bring the water and broth to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste with a little bit of the simmering broth until the paste is dissolved. This will help prevent lumps in the soup.
  3. Add the dissolved miso paste to the pot and stir to combine.
  4. Add the thinly sliced pork to the pot and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and tender.
  5. Add the baby bok choy leaves, sliced green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the pot. Stir to combine.
  6. Simmer the soup for another 3-4 minutes, or until the baby bok choy is wilted and tender.
  7. Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more miso paste, soy sauce, or sesame oil to your preference.
  8. Remove the pot from heat and let the soup sit for a minute or two before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  9. Ladle the miso soup into bowls and garnish with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a drizzle of chili oil if desired.
  10. Serve the Miso Soup with Baby Bok Choy and Pork hot and enjoy its comforting flavors.

This miso soup is a satisfying and wholesome dish that can be enjoyed as a light meal or as a starter to a larger Japanese-inspired meal. The combination of miso, tender pork, and nutritious baby bok choy creates a harmonious balance of flavors and textures.
