Chicken Korma in Coconut Milk is a rich and flavorful Indian dish made with tender chicken cooked in a creamy and aromatic coconut milk-based sauce. It is a popular dish that combines spices, yogurt, and coconut milk to create a delicious curry.
Ingredients:
- 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or ghee
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat the oil or ghee in a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, combine the ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well to make a spice blend.
- Add the spice blend to the pan and stir it into the onion mixture, allowing the spices to toast for a minute.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are lightly browned on all sides.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the coconut milk to the pan. Stir well to combine the coconut milk with the spices and chicken.
- Cover the pan and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth. Gradually add the whisked yogurt to the pan, stirring continuously to incorporate it into the sauce.
- Season with salt to taste and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Remove the pan from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
- Serve the Chicken Korma in Coconut Milk hot with steamed rice, naan bread, or roti.
