Mix Suji Aloo & Sesame
Mix Suji Aloo and Sesame is a recipe that combines semolina (suji) and potatoes with the nutty flavor of sesame seeds. It's a delicious and easy-to-make dish. Here's how you can prepare it:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semolina (suji/rava)
- 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon ghee or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your preference)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat until they turn golden brown and release a nutty aroma. Set them aside.
- Heat ghee or vegetable oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds to the heated oil and let them splutter.
- Add the mashed potatoes to the pan and stir well to combine with the seeds.
- Cook the potatoes for a few minutes until they are heated through.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the semolina (suji) to the pan. Mix well with the potatoes.
- Stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes until the semolina turns golden brown and becomes fragrant. This step helps to roast the semolina and enhance its flavor.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.
- Add the roasted sesame seeds to the pan and give it a final mix.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve the Mix Suji Aloo & Sesame hot as a side dish or enjoy it as a light and flavorful snack. This dish pairs well with yogurt or a chutney of your choice. It's a delicious way to incorporate the nutty taste of sesame seeds into a classic combination of semolina and potatoes.
