Mix Suji Aloo & Sesame

Mix Suji Aloo and Sesame is a recipe that combines semolina (suji) and potatoes with the nutty flavor of sesame seeds. It's a delicious and easy-to-make dish. Here's how you can prepare it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semolina (suji/rava)
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your preference)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat until they turn golden brown and release a nutty aroma. Set them aside.
  2. Heat ghee or vegetable oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
  3. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds to the heated oil and let them splutter.
  4. Add the mashed potatoes to the pan and stir well to combine with the seeds.
  5. Cook the potatoes for a few minutes until they are heated through.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and add the semolina (suji) to the pan. Mix well with the potatoes.
  7. Stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes until the semolina turns golden brown and becomes fragrant. This step helps to roast the semolina and enhance its flavor.
  8. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.
  9. Add the roasted sesame seeds to the pan and give it a final mix.
  10. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve the Mix Suji Aloo & Sesame hot as a side dish or enjoy it as a light and flavorful snack. This dish pairs well with yogurt or a chutney of your choice. It's a delicious way to incorporate the nutty taste of sesame seeds into a classic combination of semolina and potatoes.
