Passion fruit mille-feuille is a delicious and visually stunning dessert that combines layers of flaky pastry, creamy filling, and tangy passion fruit.
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4-5 passion fruits, pulp scooped out
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3 mm). Trim the edges to create a neat rectangle. Place the pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
- Using a fork, prick the pastry sheet all over to prevent it from puffing up too much during baking.
- Bake the pastry sheet in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on it to avoid overbaking. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
- While the pastry is cooling, prepare the filling. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- Cut the cooled pastry sheet into three equal rectangular pieces.
- Place one layer of pastry on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of whipped cream on top, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Drizzle some passion fruit pulp over the cream layer, spreading it evenly.
- Repeat the process with the remaining pastry layers, alternating between the whipped cream and passion fruit pulp until you reach the final layer.
- Dust the top layer with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
- Chill the mille-feuille in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the pastry to soften slightly.
- When ready to serve, use a sharp knife to slice the mille-feuille into individual portions.
- Garnish each piece with additional passion fruit pulp, if desired, and serve immediately.
