Salmon Philly Cheesesteak

Salmon Philly Cheesesteak

The Salmon Philly Cheesesteak is a unique twist on the classic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, substituting the traditional beef with flavorful salmon.

Ingredients:

  • 2 salmon fillets, skin removed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 soft hoagie rolls
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced mushrooms, jalapeños, mayonnaise, or hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Place the salmon fillets in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and flake easily with a fork. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and heat it over medium heat.
  5. Add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet and sauté until they become soft and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. While the onions and peppers are cooking, use two forks to flake the cooked salmon into smaller pieces.
  7. Once the onions and peppers are caramelized, add the flaked salmon to the skillet and stir to combine with the vegetables. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm the salmon through.
  8. Divide the salmon mixture into four portions in the skillet, roughly the size of your hoagie rolls.
  9. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of each portion of the salmon mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  10. While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hoagie rolls under the broiler or in a toaster oven until they are warm and slightly crispy.
  11. Once the cheese has melted, use a spatula to transfer each portion of the salmon mixture with melted cheese onto a hoagie roll.
  12. Optional: Add any desired toppings such as sliced mushrooms, jalapeños, mayonnaise, or hot sauce.
  13. Serve the Salmon Philly Cheesesteaks immediately and enjoy!
